If you were hoping our next PG Profile would cover an incredible Foreign National Talent Specialist, you’re in luck! Meet Reem Elia, who just celebrated her four-year anniversary at PG! She was also recently promoted to Talent Specialist II which adds a sales-focused aspect to her role. Shoutout to Reem for sharing her story and career journey, and for including many adorable photos of her family, including her four-month-old fur baby, Peanut Butter!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and spent seven years living in Syria before moving to the United States in 2010. Adjusting to a new country and learning English was a significant experience that helped shape who I am today. Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks, spending time with family, and continuously learning new things.

Walk us through your PG career journey so far.
I joined PG in 2022 and have been part of the Foreign National team throughout my journey. Recently, I was promoted to Talent Specialist II, where I partner closely with sellers and continue building my brand as a subject matter expert within the industry.

How has your personal journey impacted the work you do with our foreign nationals?
As a foreign national myself, I can relate to many of the experiences and challenges. Having gone through a similar journey allows me to better understand their perspectives and feel more connected to their stories and goals.
What is the most challenging part of your role? What is the most rewarding part?
The most rewarding part of my role is helping contractors secure new opportunities that allow them to grow their careers and expand their expertise. The most challenging part is knowing that I cannot always find the right opportunity for everyone I meet, even when I genuinely want to help.
Describe your relationship with your team: how does it affect your work experience?
My team feels more like a family than a group of coworkers. They have supported me since day one, and through every challenge and change, we continue to learn, adapt, and come out stronger together.

What is the best piece of career advice you have received?
The best career advice I have received is to focus on building relationships, not just completing tasks. Skills and experience are important, but strong professional relationships create opportunities, build trust, and help you grow throughout your career. That advice has helped me be more intentional about collaboration and communication in every role.
What job did you earn your first paycheck from? Did you enjoy that job?
My first job was at Foot Locker. I really enjoyed it because it gave me the opportunity to work directly with customers and help them find what they were looking for. It was a great experience that helped me build confidence and strengthen my communication skills.
Recommend a book, tv show, or movie you recently enjoyed.
I recently enjoyed “The Day of the Jackal.” It kept me engaged from start to finish with its suspenseful storyline and strong characters.
You’re having a snack chat: what is your ideal snack?
Cucumber salad, without a doubt! It's simple, refreshing, and one of my favorite snacks.

What is a fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?
A fact that most people wouldn’t know about me is that I speak five languages and come from a very large family. Growing up in a multicultural and family-oriented environment has helped me to develop strong communication skills and an appreciation for different perspectives.
