Populus Group Executive Order Immigration Update_1200

The Trump Administration’s Executive Order on immigration (issued on June 24, 2020) is leaving many unsure of how it will impact the current immigration employment climate, particularly for H-1B visa holders. These policy changes can be confusing and difficult to understand, so first, we want to assure you that it does not impact foreign nationals who are already in the US. Here are the important details that you need to know:

  1. It only restricts entry (i.e. travel to) the United States for individuals without current visas who were abroad as on 6/24/2020; it does NOT restrict anything visa related to anyone already in the United States;
  2. The case filing process remains the same; a process which is now more favorable for staffing companies based on a recent federal court settlement;
  3. As it stands currently, this executive order will expire on 12/31/2020.

It is important to note that while it may appear that things in the immigration climate are in flux, the actual policy details do not negatively impact the current immigration climate for specialty talent currently in the US. In fact, the current climate is more favorable than we’ve ever seen it. To-date our approval rating at Populus Group is 100%, significantly above the industry average of 70%.

We will be closely monitoring any and all changes relating to this Executive Order and will be sure to share any updates as they develop.
